The City of Chandler Cultural Development Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Downtown Operations Special Events Specialist. The position is scheduled to Monday – Friday 8:00-5:00 and flexible hours

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are
The City of Chandler Cultural Development Department showcases destination drivers in Chandler through the Chandler Center for the Arts, Chandler Museum, Downtown, Public Art, Special Events, and Vision Gallery.

The Downtown Redevelopment Division promotes the revitalization of the City’s Downtown and creation of an urban core that makes a positive impact for Chandler. This includes the recruitment and retention of downtown businesses, placemaking, operations and maintenance.

This position will assist with some special events. Special Events is a creative division that brings together the community with events that are holiday, art, and family themed. The Special Events team designs, produces, and manages 7 city signature outdoor events.
This position will be split time between the Downtown Redevelopment and Special Events Divisions. It will report to and spend a majority of time with the Downtown Redevelopment Division.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone comfortable with manual labor and have a strong ability to solve problems with a keen attention to detail and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. This position will operate in the field. General experience in electrical, landscaping, and misc. maintenance is desired. This person should be able to coordinate with contractors and staff to complete projects.

Minimum qualifications
• An associates degree in Facilities Maintenance, Event Management, Project Management or a related field; and
• 2 years of experience in general and/or landscaping maintenance, programming and working in special events; and
• A valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
• Experience in place operations, maintenance, or contracting;
• Experience working in Downtown settings, special event operations;
• Maintenance skillsets (electrical, landscaping, and misc. maintenance);

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
