Nexis Solutions, a division of LexisNexis, is seeking a Data Scientist who will focus on search and be dedicated to the creation of next-generation search relevance techniques and strategies for LexisNexis, dramatically improving how our users search and find the answers to their research questions. Job Summary:

The Manager of Software Engineering – Search and Data Platforms is responsible for leading and managing a team of software engineers focused on developing, optimizing, and maintaining search and data platforms.

Responsibilities:

+ Drive the strategic direction and technical vision for search solutions within the organization, ensuring high quality, performance, and scalability

+ Liaise with Product Manager to determine and address client needs

+ Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

+ Provide the team with day-to-day management and direction to accomplish on-time, efficient delivery of product development goals

+ Contribute direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products

Qualifications & Attributes:

+ 12+ years of Software Development experience

+ 5+ years of Software Development management experience

+ BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred

+ Expertise in ElasticSearch, SOLR, or similar search engines

+ Understanding of search engine technologies, indexing, and relevance tuning

+ Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and data structures

+ Experience with Databricks or other Data warehousing software a plus

+ Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript

+ Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD tools

+ Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

+ Sense of urgency

+ Ability to tackle complex solutions, escalations

+ Prior support of external facing products

+ Expertise in code reviews and development approaches

+ Knowledge of large complex systems

+ Utilize best practices and understand emerging trends

+ Ability to leverage technical metrics to drive effective business decisions

+ Expertise in partnering with and leading internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs

+ Ensure all staff is provided with training and resources needed to perform their jobs to the most outstanding degree possible

+ Ensure all staff is provided with frequent feedback and coaching to meet and exceed individual and team performance goals consistently

+ Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements through innovations
