We are seeking a highly qualified, strong leader to lead the engineering organization supporting the Nuclear and Global C2 department in the Mission Planning and Decision Support (MPDS) operating unit (OU), part of Northrop Grumman Defense Systems’ GBMR division. The GBMR division protects and secures our global citizens through the development of integrated net-enabled command & control and training systems and solutions that defend against air and missile threats, enhance situational awareness, and prepare for the mission.
This position will be responsible for the daily operation of scrum teams performing development, maintenance, and sustainment of software products for the USAF and other customers at the Northrop Grumman facility. Ultimately, this position is responsible for the delivery and sustainment of software requirements on schedule in addition to managing and developing the staff.
**The successful Software Engineering Manager will:**
+ Perform 85% coverage in a technical role and 15% coverage performing the duties associated with this position.
+ Provide functional direction to a team of approximately 10 - 15 software engineers. Work closely with them to ensure they have what they need, remove impediments and enable them to meet commitments.
+ Provide staff support for goal planning, performance reviews, training, and general employee development. Build, grow, and mentor the team.
+ Provide technical leadership and guidance by engaging with the team in a daily collaborative style and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
+ Other responsibilities include identification of skill gaps and increasing engineering competencies through strategic hiring and employee skills development.
+ Accurate reporting of engineering workforce utilization, retention rate and talent acquisition fulfillment metrics, and leading and supporting initiatives to ensure metric goals are met.
+ Working with Agile methodologies
**Roles & Responsibilities:**
+ Contribute to the daily operations of a team & program in a technical manner such as software development and /or systems engineering (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs).
+ Provide leadership and technical direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines and general policies, including planning and program performance, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages and resource allocation.
+ Responsible for functional personnel management of NG employees to include staffing, training and skills development, performance reviews and feedback, counseling, and career development.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 5 years' experience with software engineering; Master's and 3 years of experience with software engineering
+ Experience leading Agile software teams.
+ Full knowledge of software development lifecycle including: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance
+ Experience communicating with customers, other technical teams, and senior management to report status, proactively identify and resolve issues, collect and refine requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and coordinate a product strategy.
+ An active Secret Security Clearance.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
+ Scrum Master or Product Owner experience
+ 5+ years leading or developing/maintaining software systems with proven success.
+ Scrum Master, Scrum Professional or Agile Coach Certification
+ Proficiency with Java, Angular, Cesium, SonarQube, Jenkins
+ Previous experience as a team lead
**Salary Range:** $11,200 - $140,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
