Job Description:
The Microchip HRIS Team is looking for a creative, hard-working, Workday loving Principal Engineer - HRIS to join our tight-knit group. The right candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects supporting many different Workday modules, including HCM, Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Benefits and Payroll. You will support our existing library of integrations while also building new integrations and expanding our use of custom Workday Extend applications and helping us move into using AI within the HR Department.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand complex and ambiguous HR business requirements, translating them into technological solutions.
Develop HR solutions using the Workday toolset.
Design, build and maintain complex, scalable integrations using the suite of Workday Integration technologies (Calculated fields, Reports-as-a-Service, EIB, Document Transformation, Connectors, Workday Studio, WSDL, Workday Web Services API, and Workday REST API).
Advise on Workday API capabilities/limitations and supported authentication methods
Design solutions with Workday modules in Core HCM, Benefits, Security, Payroll, Compensation, Recruitment, Absence and Time Tracking.
Design, develop, test, and maintain custom applications using the Workday Extend platform and related technologies such as Orchestrations, PMD Scripting, JSON, XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, Graph API, JavaScript etc.
Development skills in any Object-Oriented Programming language, (e.g. Java, Python, or R), with an inclination to learn additional tools and technologies.
Analyze the current integration landscape to identify and address technical needs as it relates to functionality, performance, error handling, and scalability.
Thoroughly test developments through unit testing and UAT, creating/executing appropriate test scripts, coordinating testing resources, and documenting edge cases.
Utilize data-driven design, develop robust error-handling mechanisms to ensure appropriate logging and alerting.
Debug and troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, regression test, and provide resolutions.
Monitor Workday release cycles and contribute to change management.
Apply business process understanding and critical thinking skills to find creative ways to integrate, improve and automate processes that drive operational efficiency.
Contribute to data transformation, conversion, and purge efforts.
Evaluate change requests and communicate their impacts to project timeline and budget.
Manage project scope and customer expectations.
Design and deliver end-user technical training and maintain comprehensive design specifications.
Serve as the subject matter expert on large collections of Workday integrations.
Adhere to and contribute to standards, guidelines and best practices for Design and Development
Manage or mentor other members of the Technical team.
Produce quality deliverables that need little refinement or oversight.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 10 years of technical experience in software development.
Minimum 5 years of Workday experience in reporting, EIBs, Studio and/or Extend development.
Aptitude for continuous self-learning, innovation and personal development.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of HR processes, technologies and data.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
Preferred:
Experience working with various Workday modules including Security, Core HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, Absence Management, Time Tracking and Payroll
Testing experience with enterprise applications
Interest in AI and how it can apply to HR applications.
Understanding of SDLC.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
