Position Location: Merced, CA

Position: Clinical Laboratory Scientist I

Job Duties:

1. Tests patient samples through various chemical, microscopic, serological, and bacteriologic techniques

2. Assists management with the maintenance of appropriate policies, procedures and equipment as requested

3. Conducts orientation and training of new personnel and monitors performance of appropriate personnel in the section of primary responsibility as requested

4. Operates and maintains automated equipment and maintains an adequate inventory of departmental supplies

5. Performs quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement indicators routinely in the department

6. Assists in checking calculations, transcriptions, quality control, and quality assurance reports as requested

7. Responsible for daily workflow to ensure timely and efficient departmental operations

8. Participates in professional growth by maintaining knowledge of lab specific policies and procedures and taking advantage of the available educational opportunities

9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner

Salary: $51.45/hour

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week

**Qualifications**

Job Requirements:

Education Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or closely related. Employer will accept foreign equivalent degree if in the same field.

Experience Requirements:

+ 24 months of experience in job offered, Medical Technologist, Medical Technologist II, or closely related.

Special skills requirements:

1. Working in different sections of the Laboratory such as Serology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy/Information, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy (Parasitology/ Urinalysis), and Bacteriology.

2. Collecting blood, receiving urine, stool, and other specimens, and processing them with proper adherence to quality assurance programs of the laboratory.

3. Examine secretions and excretions of the human body by various electronics, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematological, serologic, and immunologic procedures and techniques either manual or automated.

4. Evaluate and perform corrective actions using Quality Control specimens on various clinical instruments.

5. Operating the following laboratory equipment: Sysmex XS-1000i, Cepheid GeneExpert, Werfren ACL tops, Biofire FilmArray Respiratory Panel, Siemens Dimension EXL 200, Piccolo Express, Siemens Clinitek, various Serologic Test Kits.

6. Must have a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) License from the California Department of Public Health

7. Must have an International Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

**Pay Range**

$47.75 - $64.26 /hour
