Overview
Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) – the first Fire Authority in the State of Arizona. Staffs ten full-time and two reserve stations covering 369 square miles of Yavapai County. We are nestled between the Bradshaw and Mingus Mountain ranges with elevations that range from 4,300 feet near the head of the Verde River to 6,500 feet in Highland Pines. Our coverage area encompasses approximately 106,500 residents throughout the municipalities of Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, and unincorporated areas, such as Paulden and Williamson Valley Road, in the central region of Yavapai County. Our organization is divided into four sections; Administration, Planning & Logistics, Fire Prevention, and Operations.
Our organization is driven by our Mission, Vision, and Core Values with the goal to create a sustainable entity for our community and our members. Whether it's a job as a firefighter or in our support services, at Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, we’re committed to our mission of protecting life and property through prevention and response. By becoming a part of our fire family, you’re committing yourself to a career of service to our community, which includes Prescott Valley, Prescott, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, and unincorporated areas throughout Yavapai County. No matter what your role is at CAFMA, there are no small parts or players in our family. All work is deeply valued and your good work done well has the potential to impact others.
CAFMA receives an enormous amount of encouragement and support from the communities we serve. Whether it’s hand-written thank you cards, donations, station visits, support for The Patriot Run (annual September Patriot Week fundraiser that benefits the Central Arizona Honor Guard, the ceremonial unit for CAFMA), or visiting with firefighters and staff at events like National Night Out, July 4th activities, and events hosted by the Firefighter Angel Foundation and local firefighter charities. We feel the love!
We believe every individual who is a part of Central Arizona Fire and Medical plays a vital role in achieving our mission of protecting life and property through prevention and response. All positions support this mission, and we establish high-performance standards for all our positions, whether you’re a firefighter, a finance assistant, or a battalion chief. The same standard of performance exists throughout our entire organization. We look for passionate individuals looking for long-term career opportunities to help us achieve our mission.
Candidates can expect the testing process to consist of a written assessment, an oral interview, and a Fire Chief's interview. Final selections are made by the Fire Chief.
