Interns are placed at different sites across Arizona, where they contribute to our business in various fields.
**Description**
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
Under direct supervision
+ Assist with a variety of welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW/GMAW, TIG Welding, Carbon Arc Gouging etc., on various equipment.
+ Assist Boilermaker Welders with routine welding and maintenance activities which may include fabrication to blueprints or field fabrication.
+ Assist with completion of work orders and other maintenance documentation.
+ Perform other duties as required.
**Qualifications**
**WHAT YOU BRING TO FREEPORT**
+ Currently enrolled in an associate degree or certification program in welding, **OR**
+ Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with an associate degree or certification in welding.
**WHAT WE REQUIRE**
+ Ability to understand, apply and communicate verbal and written work and safety-related instructions, procedures, job assignments and applicable safety standards in English.
+ Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
+ Work is in an office, mine, or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
+ Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the workday.
+ Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

**Compensation:**
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.00/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on education and relevant experience.

All Things Metal is a structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator and erector located in Phoenix, Arizona. We are seeking a dedicated fitter/welder to join our fabrication shop for a full-time, Monday-Friday position. We are only interested in skilled professionals who can produce efficiently and meet required deadlines.
All Things Metal is a fast-paced environment with an existing culture in a challenging industry. We are looking for fitter/welders to help take us to the next level and that are here to stay. This isn't a temporary position where you'll be laid off in a couple months after you complete a job. You will have a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities –
+ Accurately Layout & Fit-up of steel per shop drawings
+ Properly setup welding machine/wire feeder for welding - and adjust settings as required during welding
+ Verify and ensure fit-up of full penetration welds comply with plans, AWS D1.1, and welding requirements, and quality control
+ Ability to read and properly interpret shop drawings
+ Ability to perform welds per AWS D1.1 specification.
+ Perform clean welds with no inclusions, undercut, porosity.
+ Cleaning of all slag/splatter from welds and surrounding area
+ Ensure equipment used is properly maintained/stored during/after use
+ Grinding/Cleaning/Beveling fit-up of welds where required
Advantages, but not required:
+ MIG Welding with solid core gas-shielded wire (Light welding of railings/misc. steel)
+ Ability to weld mild steel over 1-1/2" thickness
Requirements -
+ 3-5 years’ experience in structural steel Fitting, layout, and welding using the Flux Cored welding process
+ Candidate must be able to read and interpret shop drawings & plans.
+ Candidate should be safety oriented (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 a plus)
+ A team player, punctual, and motivated
+ Applicant must pass in-shop layout/fit-up test.
+ Must be able to bring your welding hood/gloves/jacket as you will be given a fillet test to ensure proper tack welding abilities as well.
+ Valid Identification
+ Background test and drug screening will be done prior to hire
Fitter/welders must be physically able to:
+ Lift and carry objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
+ Stoop, kneel, crawl, lay, bend, squat, stand and walk for long periods of time
+ Work outdoors in all weather conditions

+ $15.00-$24.00 an hour depending on experience, with opportunity for advancement after the first 90 days

Welder
Applies basic and some advanced welding processes to join sheet metal aircraft components as specified by written instructions, weld schedules and drawings. Visually and dimensionally inspects completed work for conformances to verbal/written instructions and specifications. Works well as a team member and seeks clarification to refine welding techniques.
Functions and Responsibilities
+ Completes routine and some advanced welding tasks while applying standard practices.
+ Properly prepares weld surfaces.

+ Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing; knows where to find this information and seeks help if necessary.
+ Can move to various work areas easily with experience.

Working Conditions
+ Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries.
Physical Requirements
+ The welder performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
