    Job Overview:

    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the maintenance lead is responsible for leading the maintenance team, organizing, and managing PM’s, work orders and maintenance spare parts, troubleshooting equipment, management of contractors and supporting the trades teams in breakdown recovery and other maintenance tasks. This role is responsible for performing maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of equipment in the facility. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in industrial machinery and knowledge of electrical systems to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain equipment used in metal sorting, shredding, processing, and sorting processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Preproduction activities include:

    Assist in installation of equipment

    Define equipment PM requirements

    Assist in defining spare parts requirements

    Set-up of Maintenance shop

    Assist in defining work order system requirements

    Assist in writing SOPs and Maintenance work permits

    May assist in completion of Functional Acceptance Tests of equipment

    Complete preproduction training

    Postproduction activities include:

    Lead and instruct maintenance staff

    Manage spare parts to ensure parts are available for optimum plant reliability

    Work on the tools required to help maintenance staff in breakdown recovery and planned maintenance activities.

    Organize and manage contractor activities as required

    Issue Work Permits as required, and work with site admin to ensure proper tracking

    Collaborate with engineering and site administration to:

    Manage the maintenance PM plan

    Maintain the work order tracking system

    Install, assemble, and maintain machinery such as pumps, agitators, shredders, crushers, milling equipment and other mechanical systems used in industry

    Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and prevent major failures.

    Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic systems.

    Provide troubleshooting support to diagnose and resolve issues related to both mechanical and electrical failures.

    Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to assess equipment performance and identify the root cause of malfunctions.

    Safety and Compliance:

    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

    Assist with maintaining the facility’s compliance with environmental and safety regulations, particularly related to hazardous materials handling and waste management.

    Follow strict safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, to ensure the safety of personnel while working on machinery and electrical systems.

    Equipment Installation and Upgrades:

    Assist in the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems to improve plant efficiency and productivity.

    Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and inspections.

    Collaboration and Communication:

    Work closely with plant operators, production teams, and other maintenance staff to address operational issues and prioritize maintenance tasks.

    Communicate effectively with supervisors and management to report on equipment status, issues, and required parts.

    Qualifications:

    Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a metal recycling or manufacturing environment.

    433A Industrial Millwright license (Canada) - or equivalent work experience

    Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical training in electrical or mechanical systems, or relevant certifications preferred.

    Forklift certification is must

    Ability to travel internationally for job-related training as required.

    Specific Skills

    Technical:

    Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, etc.).

    Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics.

    About this Opportunity:

    As a Junior Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Maintenance team in ensuring smooth operation of equipment in the facility and tasks related to inspection, troubleshooting and repair of equipment in the facility.     2. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments following established protocols, instructions for use (IFU) as well as performs required quality assurance, repairs, reassembly, documentation, sterility handling, and storage of specialized surgical instruments. Maintains required sterilization logs and quality assurance records relating to all equipment associated for the purpose of decontamination, HLD disinfection, and sterilization.

    3. Ability to interpret the surgical schedule and medical terminology as it pertains to scheduled procedures requiring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies needed. Able to address and communicate special needs to minimize delays to surgery. Responds to emergent calls from the Operating Room and performs preliminary investigation. Determines priority level of instrumentation requests and other hospital needs. Directs services in a competent and professional manner while assuring OR priorities are completed in a timely manner.

    4. Able to differentiate surgical instrumentation that is surgery owned, consignment/loaner, hospital depart, surgeon, ambulatory surgery center, and clinics both on and off campus. Completes necessary tracking of surgical instruments with a paper log sheet or computer process for instrumentation leaving the area. Reports needed replacement of surgical instruments to maintain the inventory and support readiness of sets.

    5. Utilizes specialized equipment for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation according to the device and equipment manufacturer’s recommendations and hospital policy. Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers of various. Operates automated surgical instrument washers, ultrasonics, flush pumps, visualization devices, and cart washers to include high-level disinfectors where supported.

Operates various quality assurance testing equipment associated to flexible endoscopic scopes, transesophageal ultrasound probes, and electro-surgical insulation defect detector for laparoscopic and energy provided surgical instrumentation. Utilizes heat detection devices to allow steam sterilized surgical instrumentation to be released for use without risking burns to staff and patients. Operates demagnetizers of stainless-steel instruments for ophthalmic and delicate cardiac surgical instrumentation for safe use on patients. Utilizes various borescope devices to inspect inner channels of lumened surgical instrumentation and flexible scopes.

    7. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices. Staff follow protocols for proper donning of personnel protective equipment (PPE) while completing the decontamination process referencing IFU’s supplied by the manufacturers.

    8. Maintain flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed, maintain a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals, and departures, maintain professional appearance appropriate to position and function.

    No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history while operating a commercial motor vehicle (the preventability of any accidents will be determined by Walmart based on the ATA Guidelines and DOT recordable accidents, which include accidents involving disabled vehicles requiring tow, accidents requiring medical care for anyone involved, accidents involving a fatality, and hazardous material spills).

    No reported positive drug or alcohol tests from previous motor carriers that fall under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations or Federal Drug & Alcohol guidelines within 5 years (beyond 5 years, applicant must have successfully completed a substance abuse program as outlined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

    Successful completion of a DOT physical and receipt of a medical certification of at least 6 months (Walmart will allow a 1 time, 3 month card to become compliant, with a minimum of a 6 month card).

    Able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records as required by 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

    Successful completion of a driver’s road test for the combination truck and trailer that will be operated within the scope of work.

    Able to obtain all required licenses and/or endorsements for operating state if required

    Option 1: Vocational or technical certification.

    Option 2: 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or related area.

    Within 30 days of hire, able to obtain and maintain DOT certification, meeting all health, safety, and driving record qualifications required by the DOT.

    As permitted by applicable law, provide evidence of full vaccination for COVID-19 as defined by CDC guidelines or secure approval of medical or religious accommodation for the vaccination mandate.
