    Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Police Officer. The Police Officer reports to a Police Sergeant. The primary function of this position is to perform general and specialized law enforcement work to preserve public peace and protect lives, property and the rights of the public and enforce statutory law and municipal ordinances. The work involves patrolling streets and neighborhoods to deter crime and apprehend or arrest violators or suspects, responding to calls for law enforcement assistance and gathering information for criminal investigations.

    Recruit Officer:

    + You must be at least 21-years of age by the time you would be scheduled to graduate from a 22-week police academy.

    + You have not graduated from any law enforcement training academy OR

    + Your previously held peace officer certification has lapsed/expired.

    + If your certification has lapsed, you will have to submit a waiver of training and will have to pass an Arizona POST waiver examination. (Arizona POST Rule R13-4-110D)

    Open Enrollment Officer :

    + You graduated from an Arizona law enforcement academy within the past one (1) calendar year, but have not been appointed by a law enforcement agency.

    The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Police Sergeant include:

    Promotional Exam Process

    1. Written Examination. A written examination is tentatively scheduled for June 11, 2025.

    2. Candidate Orientation: A candidate orientation session will be held to introduce the testing process to candidates. The Orientation Session is scheduled for May 21, 2025

    3. Written Exercise. A written exercise will be assigned. Candidates will present their written exercise during the oral interview portion of the promotional testing process. If the written exercise is not submitted by the due date, the candidate will be eliminated from the promotional testing selection process. The due date of the written exercise will be announced during the candidate Orientation Session.

    3. Oral Interview. Oral interviews are tentatively scheduled for June 24, 2025. Only those candidates scoring a passing grade of 70% or above on the written examination will be invited to participate in the oral interview. Additional oral interview dates may be added if necessary.

Responsibilities Job Summary Patrols hospital property with K-9, screens visitors and performs other activities relating to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. Some activities can involve elements of danger or risk of injury and restraining patients. Protects HonorHealth property against fire, theft, vandalism, or other illegal or unauthorized activities. To be classified in this position, Security Officer must successfully complete an approved K-9 training program, fully understand and comply with the K-9 Security Program Policy and sign the "Conditions of Employment as a K-9 Security Officer". Patrols, inspects buildings and grounds, with a K-9, to watch for and guard against fire, theft, illegal or unauthorized entry, infractions of safety regulations, and other irregularities. Prepares and maintains well-written, complete, and comprehensive reports and logs relating to this accountability. Gives obedience and protection commands to K9 as situation dictates. Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure hospital campus. Investigates and/or reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to the appropriate leadership personnel. Checks doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are tightly closed and locked; notes in written log any unlocked doors/windows; submits information to supervisor and/or manager. Monitors and manages ingress flow through weapons detection systems in accordance with operational procedures, while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor. Demonstrates vigilance in identifying threats and hazards involving continuous monitoring, awareness, and proactive measures to detect and mitigate potential risks. Escorts people/property to desired destination when monies, documents or safety of property or persons are a concern. Responds to alarms and dispatched calls and takes appropriate actions. Unlocks buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policies. Enforce organizational policies (i.e. parking, smoking, badge compliance). Provides training to staff as needed. Acts as First Responder to disturbances/emergencies such as Infant Abduction alarms, fire alarms, panic alarms, intruder alarms, restraint calls anywhere in hospital or on hospital grounds. Must respond to urgent security calls immediately, which may require rapid stair climbing, running/sprinting, moving of heavy equipment and other associated tasks. In the event of emergencies, must take charge of policing to maintain order, safety and to protect personnel and property. May assist law enforcement officers and security leadership with protection details, crowd control, and surveillance at large public events.     **Essential Job Functions:**

    As a Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer, upon successful completion of training and certification, you will operate as a Law Enforcement Officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governor's by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act. In this critical capacity, you are charged with protecting and safeguarding the Bank's grounds, property, operations, employees, and other individuals on premises. You may be involved in making arrests and/or detaining individuals committing criminal acts on the premises, and providing testimony as required by law.

    **You will:**

    + Monitor metal detectors and utilize hand-held metal detection wands and x-ray machines to scan visitors and packages for weapons and other unauthorized items.

    + Control entry of persons and vehicles entering beyond the Bank's public accessible areas, including parking structures, security court, or assigned valuables handling areas, and monitor surveillance equipment, intercoms, telephones, radios, and other specialized equipment.

    + Operate law enforcement/emergency equipment when appropriate, such as issued firearms, emergency rescue, medical and firefighting equipment, post access consoles and portable radios.

    + Patrol building and report any unusual situation or unauthorized individuals and safeguard sensitive data and valuables through direct observation during regular patrol rounds.
