    **Essential Job Functions:**

    As a Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer, upon successful completion of training and certification, you will operate as a Law Enforcement Officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governor's by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act. In this critical capacity, you are charged with protecting and safeguarding the Bank's grounds, property, operations, employees, and other individuals on premises. You may be involved in making arrests and/or detaining individuals committing criminal acts on the premises, and providing testimony as required by law.

    **You will:**

    + Monitor metal detectors and utilize hand-held metal detection wands and x-ray machines to scan visitors and packages for weapons and other unauthorized items.

    + Control entry of persons and vehicles entering beyond the Bank's public accessible areas, including parking structures, security court, or assigned valuables handling areas, and monitor surveillance equipment, intercoms, telephones, radios, and other specialized equipment.

    + Operate law enforcement/emergency equipment when appropriate, such as issued firearms, emergency rescue, medical and firefighting equipment, post access consoles and portable radios.

    + Patrol building and report any unusual situation or unauthorized individuals and safeguard sensitive data and valuables through direct observation during regular patrol rounds.

    **You have:**

    **Due to the physically demanding, critical and sensitive nature of these positions, the following minimum qualifications are also required:**

    Grand Canyon University’s Police Department is seeking full time Seasonal Police Officers to ensure the safety and security of the GCU campus. The GCU Police Department performs general and specialized police work involving the enforcement of laws and ordinances, crime prevention, and other community services.     What you will do:

    + Patrols assigned areas of Grand Canyon University owned properties, by automobile, foot or bicycle, for the prevention of crime and enforcement of all applicable criminal, traffic, and liquor laws and City Ordinances.

    + Responds to calls for service involving crimes such as thefts, robberies, assaults, homicides, and narcotics violations. Responds to all calls for service including those that do not involve crimes but are civil or societal issues requested police presence.

    + Secures the scene of a crime; makes arrests; books suspects. Prepares reports to accurately document information.

    + Responds to hazardous materials incidents and traffic accidents; investigates traffic accidents; detects impaired drivers; administers first aid; directs traffic and requests medical assistance.

    + Participate in problem-oriented policing efforts by identifying problem areas, recommending and implementing solutions, and monitoring the results. Handle hostage negotiations; performs suicide prevention interventions; transports mentally ill patients.

    + Serves court orders (e.g., subpoenas), arrest warrants, and mental health orders.

    + Performs other related duties as assigned.

    What you need:

    + High school diploma, or equivalent.

    + Minimum of 5 years as a Police Officer.

    + Must have Arizona Post Certification, either active or inactive. Must continuously meet all requirements and standards of AZ POST.

    + Must have valid Arizona Driver’s License and be insurable.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain ACJIS Terminal Operator’s Certification.

    + Must successfully pass a physical exam, polygraph test, psychological assessment, physical agility test, background investigation, and drug test.

    + Ability to work four 10-hour shifts per week; overtime, holiday, weekend and shift work (days, swings or graveyard shifts).

Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within 90 days of assignment to this position. Leadership Training: All newly appointed, second level supervisors and managers are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 4 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.     + Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities
