    Summary This is a Wildland Firefighter Hotshot position located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region, Branch of Wildland Fire Management, Operations - Hotshot Section, Duty Station in Fort Defiance, Arizona and will be filled from Standard PD Number: DX00200. This announcement will be used to fill vacancies utilizing the Direct-Hire Authority (5CFR 337.201). Responsibilities Serves as a trained member of a wildland fire module or hand crew/engine crew executing fuels management, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire activities. Specific specialty areas of work within fire modules or crews include fire engine operation, fire management planning, fuels management, and prevention. Work may also include all hazard and emergency response activities. May be assigned to carry out specialized assignments such as tree falling, backfire and burnout operations; utilizes a variety of specialized tools, equipment and techniques while actively managing wildfires. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: GS-4: Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of specialized work experience equivalent to at least the GS-3 grade level in the Federal Service; OR two (2) years of education above the high school level with related course work; OR a combination of education and work experience - for example, three months of general experience and three months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 30 semester hours of the required college coursework (50% of the education requirement) when combined meets the total requirements for the position. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This is a MANDATORY qualification prerequisites to qualify for this position. The applicant must have possessed all of the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) qualifications under the Standards for Interagency Hotshot Crew Operations to be considered eligible for this hotshot position identified as a IHC Firefighter: Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) or higher NOTE: Selective factors are knowledges, skills, abilities, or special qualifications that are in addition to the minimum requirements in a qualification standard but are determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.     H&E Rentals has an immediate opening for a Field Mechanic. An H&E Field Mechanic travels to customer job sites for the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on different forms of aerial and earthmoving heavy equipment.     **Field Mechanic Responsibilities:**

    + **On-Site Maintenance and Repairs:** Travel to customer job sites to perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct repairs on heavy equipment.

    + **Mechanical Expertise:** Diagnose and repair mechanical problems, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, and other essential components of heavy machinery.

    + **Electrical and Hydraulic Systems:** Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment.

    + **Diesel Systems:** Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, addressing issues related to fuel systems, exhaust, and emissions.

    + **Preventive Maintenance:** Implement preventive maintenance procedures to extend the lifespan of equipment and prevent breakdowns.

    + **Safety Compliance:** Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and those around you.

    + **Documentation:** Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including parts used and work performed.

    **Field Mechanic Preferred Qualifications:**

    + **Education:** A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + **Experience:** A minimum of three (3) to seven (7) years of relevant experience is necessary.

    + **Driving Experience:** A minimum of three (3) years of relevant driving experience is required.

    + **Technical Skills:** Hard down/major repair skills are a necessity.

    + **Training:** Factory, vocational, or mechanical training is a plus.

    + **Equipment Experience:** A history of working with different forms of heavy equipment, specifically excavators, forklifts, compactors, and other types of aerial and earthmoving equipment.
