The International Student Specialist will work with inbound international students and ISSS advisors to provide a successful and positive experience for NAU international students. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) works with students on immigration questions prior to, and upon their arrival at NAU during Orientation, and acts as their guide throughout their time on NAU's beautiful Flagstaff Mountain campus, helping them navigate immigration regulations, academic adjustments, and cultural integration. This position is fully in-person on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.
The International Student Specialist will provide administrative and DSO support for newly admitted students as well as support for DSO processes that impact international students studying at NAU. This role is expected to follow established F1 procedures to accurately report and maintain university regulatory compliance with DHS; support programming efforts; and support a positive international student experience. This position acts as a DSO.
Administrative Support & SEVIS compliance - 75%
• Provide information to international students regarding ISSS programs and services.
• Serve as a Designated School Official to support new initial I-20 processing.
• Track international student inquiries received through iNAU, reviewing for completeness and following-up on incomplete requests.
• Process Social Security support, invitation, and other student letters.
• Use the NAU Peoplesoft, Salesforce, and Sunapsis databases to access information.
• Support receipt, scanning, filing, and check-out of important documents accurately and dependably.
• Maintain document filing system, student electronic files, and archives.
• May guide and train student employees on scheduling, workflow, prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, and reviewing work for quality.
Programming & Communication - 10%
• Schedule, prepare, and organize presentations for orientation and ISSS-sponsored workshops and events.
• May create flyers, posters, newsletter and develop means to share content/information.
• May support scheduling and development of social media content.

Salary
Anticipated hourly range is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour. Hourly salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
