The Executive Assistant Intern plays a vital role at Million Dollar Teacher Project. As the Executive Assistant Intern, you will be the first point of contact for the other interns. You will report directly to the founder of MDTP, Lloyd Hopkins. You will gain firsthand knowledge of the inner workings of a nonprofit, and you will develop professional communication and management skills. By the end of the semester, the Executive Assistant Intern will have acquired both hard and soft skills that will appeal to employers of any sector.

*Be a liaison between the Executive Director and the Board of Directors
*Sit in on board meetings, deliver education-related news, take notes and manage meeting minutes
*Assist with the planning and organization of board meetings, events, etc.
*Assist in the development of a board packet/promotional materials to engage potential stakeholders and clarify roles of incoming board members
*Manage the Board of Directors Google Drive

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the operations of the Classroom Support Team and Million Dollar Teacher Tree (MDTT) programs
• Work with teachers and team members to ensure weekly journals are being completed
• Take the lead in running Million Dollar Teacher Tree at Scottsdale Fashion Square during the back-to-school season
• Will be handling all teachers requests for items and supplies needed for Million Dollar Teacher Tree
• Manage communication between school, community and business partners involved with the Million Dollar Teacher Tree
• Attend monthly Classroom Support Team meetings
• Create Classroom Support Team reports based off CST journals and data
• Recruit, train, and orient new Classroom Support Team members

Course: Mathematics for Elementary Teachers I
This is the first in a two-course sequence designed for prospective elementary school teachers. Concepts include set theory, functions, numeration systems, number theory and properties of the natural numbers, integers, rational numbers, ratios, proportions, decimals, and percents, with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking.
What You Will Do:
+ Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
+ Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
+ Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
+ Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
What You Will Bring:
+ PhD in Mathematics
+ OR Master’s in Mathematics
+ Exceptions may be granted to individuals with a Masters in any field possessing either: 9 graduate credits in Mathematics or substantial teaching experience

What will you be doing?
As a Teacher Assistant, you will work side-by-side with teachers and families to provide a home away from home for children in our care, according to NAEYC guidelines. Responsibilities include:
• Ensuring the safety and supervision of children ages 6 weeks – 12 years.
• Assisting teachers with instruction in the classroom.
• Decorating inside and outside of classrooms as needed.
• Maintaining a warm and safe environment that is clean and permits children to grow and explore.
• Interacting with children to encourage their involvement in activities.
• Providing effective communication with parents/guardians about their child.
