The Vocational Instructor performs instructional services of vocational and/or occupational subjects, such as business, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing and trades which are designed to help inmates/students learn specified subject matter and acquire vocational skills.

+ Prepare course objectives following curriculum standards and applicable requirements by contract.

+ Plan and document a program of study that meets the individual needs and abilities of students.

+ Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisual aids and other materials. Evaluate students' performance and issue progress reports as required. Assist students with additional instruction as needed.

**Qualifications:**

+ High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.

+ Three years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or in career readiness skills to include technical trade experience; or three years of experience as a certified instructor teaching in the specific trade or subject area is required.

+ Must possess or be eligible for certification and/or license, or other credentials required by contract and/or state of employment.

+ Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required agency credentials.

+ Must have the ability to give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocational area.

+ Experience in Microsoft Office applications is required.

+ A valid driver's license is required.

+ Instructors teaching Computers or Horticulture may substitute a Bachelor's degree in the field of study related to the work assignment for the experience requirement.

Job Description

The International Student Specialist will work with inbound international students and ISSS advisors to provide a successful and positive experience for NAU international students. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) works with students on immigration questions prior to, and upon their arrival at NAU during Orientation, and acts as their guide throughout their time on NAU's beautiful Flagstaff Mountain campus, helping them navigate immigration regulations, academic adjustments, and cultural integration. This position is fully in-person on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus.

The International Student Specialist will provide administrative and DSO support for newly admitted students as well as support for DSO processes that impact international students studying at NAU. This role is expected to follow established F1 procedures to accurately report and maintain university regulatory compliance with DHS; support programming efforts; and support a positive international student experience. This position acts as a DSO.

Administrative Support & SEVIS compliance - 75%

• Provide information to international students regarding ISSS programs and services.
• Serve as a Designated School Official to support new initial I-20 processing.
• Track international student inquiries received through iNAU, reviewing for completeness and following-up on incomplete requests.
• Process Social Security support, invitation, and other student letters.
• Use the NAU Peoplesoft, Salesforce, and Sunapsis databases to access information.
• Support receipt, scanning, filing, and check-out of important documents accurately and dependably.
• Maintain document filing system, student electronic files, and archives.
• May guide and train student employees on scheduling, workflow, prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, and reviewing work for quality.

Programming & Communication - 10%

• Schedule, prepare, and organize presentations for orientation and ISSS-sponsored workshops and events.
• May create flyers, posters, newsletter and develop means to share content/information.
• May support scheduling and development of social media content.
• May serve as a co-advisor for International Club, iFriends, sponsored exchange students etc.

Special Projects & Additional Responsibilities - 10%

• Work on special projects with ISSS staff as assigned (design and prepare info packets, distribute flyers, filing, etc.).
• Complete NAU mandatory trainings and follow guidelines.

Other - 5%

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in relevant field.
• 1-2 years of previous administrative work or volunteer experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• US citizenship or lawful permanent residence status is required to qualify as a DSO and ARO.

Salary

Anticipated hourly range is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour. Hourly salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.

HOURS, COMPENSATION, LOCATION:

We are looking for you to teach 1-2 classes per week - mostly in the evenings and possibly on weekends. DivaDance brings our classes into existing facilities - we do not have our own physical location. You can expect to teach anywhere in Phoenix and should have reliable transportation to get there for classes!

Compensation starts at $25 per class.
