**Purpose**
Work outdoors using electromagnetic equipment and ground penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities. Also perform vacuum truck operation; perform utility mark out and surveying activities; and document work with sketches, photos, spreadsheets and/or written reports.
**Responsibilities**
**Leadership and Direction**
+ Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes. Receive direction on all aspects of assignments, specific tasks and how to execute. Work is thoroughly reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles.
**At the Operational and Company Level**
+ Locate underground utilities through nondestructive methods.
+ Operate Data Collectors and collect field measurements.
+ Record and document the underground utility field data accurately.
+ Train to operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
+ Train to meet company safety standards.
**Do the Work**
+ Assist in operation of vacuum truck and related equipment such as compressor blower, vacuum hose and air lance, jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, hand tools, etc.
+ Assist in identification of underground utilities with electromagnetic equipment including electromagnetic induction (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR).
+ Assist in the surveying of all SUE work.
+ Assist in implementation of traffic control procedures.
+ Drive company vehicles.
+ Actively work towards obtaining skills required to advance to SUE Technician II position.

Job Description:
The Engineering Technician will work under the guidance of the manufacturing engineer or site lead for the manufacturing build of the I2 Tube intensifiers. The candidate will contribute to the company’s success by performing a variety of engineering work in the development, improvement, and optimization of multiple processes and techniques utilized in the manufacture of I2 tubes, including vacuum deposition of inorganic and metallic films, glass processing, chemical etching and handling, materials analysis, and characterization. The work will involve improving and optimizing current processes and materials targeting increased new image intensifier capabilities, manufacturing yield, and/or reduced variance. Emphasis will be in improvement of component performance, implementing manufacturing standard work, best practices, and developing optimized process recipes and methodologies.
Success in this role will be measured by the timely improved process development and supporting implementation of new processes into production, resulting in cost-savings associated with reduced tool down time, improved component level yield, and/or enhanced product performance.
Essential Functions:
+ Qualify, setup, and audit process equipment using written work instructions
+ Perform process verification metrology or inspection steps for each process step performed based on classified data
+ Perform calculations to determine process conditions and transfer SPC data into manufacturing dashboard
+ Perform documented out of control action plans (OCAPs) for processes failing SPC limits
+ Identify process and/or equipment issues and escalate to the appropriate issue owner
